Newground CIC

Education, employment, business support

Born out of the recession in the early ’80s and in response to the Toxteth riots, Newground’s original purpose was to give communities the impetus to rebuild their local environment. The company coordinated with partners from private, public and voluntary sectors to improve the local environment and it soon became obvious that the approach worked really well.

By 1983 Newground had gone national and there are now 40 trusts in the UK, employing around 2000 people and collectively managing around £120 million of project and contract income each year.
